hiermit möchten wir Sie auf den Call for Abstracts der Zeitschrift
„Kuckuck. Notizen zur Alltagskultur“ für die Ausgabe 1/21 zum Thema
„Code“ aufmerksam machen:
KUCKUCK. NOTIZEN ZUR ALLTAGSKULTUR 1/21: „CODE“
Der Code-Begriff erlebt im Zeitalter allgegenwärtiger digitaler
Computertechnologien und Mensch-Maschinen-Kollaborationen – über
semiotische und symbolische Codes von Gesellschaften hinaus – in
diversen Zusammenhängen ein Revival: Source Codes, Binärcodes und
Algorithmen; Software, Verschlüsselungstechnologien und Kryptographie;
numerische Codes, Formeln und Funktionen; (Geo)mapping, Biometrie oder
Computational Genomics.
Codes sind Formen der Zuordnung, Abbildung und Verknüpfung von
Bedeutungen oder Informationen. Sie sind Relationen und Beziehungen und
stellen diese gleichzeitig her. Codes bleiben aber auch immer offen für
Formen der Aneignung, des Gegenlesens und der Umdeutung oder werden, wie
etwa in der Internetkunst, zum Selbstzweck.
Die Ausgabe 1/2021 der Zeitschrift „kuckuck. Notizen zur Alltagskultur“
stellt Code in seinen multiplen Formen, seiner Generierung und
(De-)chiffrierung in den Fokus.
Wir freuen uns auf Ideen und Themenvorschläge für
wissenschaftliche/essayistische oder künstlerische Beiträge.
Wir bitten um Einreichung der Abstracts bis zum 15.8.2020 an:

Das Abgabedatum für ausgewählte Beiträge ist der 30. Januar 2021.
Call for Abstracts
KUCKUCK. NOTIZEN ZUR ALLTAGSKULTUR 1/21: „CODE“
In the age of ubiquitous digital computer technologies and human-machine
collaborations, code is experiencing a revival in various contexts:
source codes, binary codes and algorithms; software, encryption
technologies and cryptography; numerical codes, formulas and
functions; (geo)mapping, biometrics or computational genomics.
Codes are attributions, representations and entanglements of information
and meaning. They are relations and dependencies which they
simultaneously co-produce. However, codes also enable practices of
appropriation, counterdiscourse and reinterpretation or even become an
end-in-itself in code art.
The 1/2021 issue of the magazine „kuckuck. Notizen zur Alltagskultur“
focuses on code in its multiple forms, on its engineering and
(de-)ciphering.
We are looking forward to abstracts and ideas for scientific/essayistic
or artistic contributions until August 15th, 2020.
